Putana, the daughter of the demonic king Bali, came to Krsna as a beautiful woman and tried to get Krsna to suckle her poison-filled breasts, but Krsna sucked the life from her (Turner, "Krishna"). The evil Kansa, who also happened to be Krsna's uncle, sent his retinue of demons to destroy Krsna (Turner, "Krishna"). Krsna came into this world to destroy the tyrant of Mathura, Kansa (Turner, "Krishna"). Krsna was a little rascal as a child, stealing sweets and butter and constantly getting into mischief when His mother was not around (Turner, "Krishna"). Krsna was born in Mathura (now known as Krishnajanmabhoomi), where a temple stands in His memory (213.186.238.124 3.1). The sound of His music was irresistible to all who heard it (Turner, "Krishna"). He often played a flute called Murali, attracting and bewildering the gop is (213.186.238.124 1). He loved sports and flirting with the gop is (cowgirls) (Turner, "Krishna"). Krsna is known as a god of love (Turner, "Krishna"). Gaudiya Vaisnavas believe that Visnu emanates from Krsna, not vice versa (62.254.32.19, "Gaudiya Vaishnavism"). This differs from traditional Vaishnavism in which Visnu and His avatars are worshipped as the Supreme God (Rudolf 1922). Gaudiya Vaishnavism is a monotheistic samprad aya (tradition) of Hinduism in which Krsna is the highest form of God, or the "Supreme Personality of Godhead" (62.254.32.19, "ISKCON" 1.2).
